Office Dilemmas

Who knew it would be so hard to pick a color for my office?  Jeremy and I finally got started on my office last week, and in this past week we've changed the color 3 times.  Third time is a charm, right?  I'm usually good at this kind of thing - just looking at the little paint swatch, picking exactly what I want, and it usually turns out well.  I have started to doubt my color picking abilities....hence changing the color 3 times.

Here is how the office started out - banana yellow, with incredibly old, broken windows:

So during our first attempt, I decided to take a risk and go really dark.  I wanted a grey/dark green kind of color, but instead I got a color that looked black at night:

paint2

It looks slightly green since it's daytime in this picture, but it's still INCREDIBLY dark.  And trust me, at night, you just felt like you were in a black cave.  At least we have our nice new windows in at this point!

Next I opted to go lighter, and chose a color called Herbal Escape.  Doesn't that just sound like you want to be in your office at all times with a name like that?  Well I'll be honest - it ended up looking like I threw mud on the walls.  I forgot to take a picture of color #2, because we only painted half a wall before Jeremy got it out of me that I hated it, and wanted to re-do it.  Thank god he did get that out of me, because when I was painting the mud on my office walls I secretly wanted to cry, but didn't feel like re-doing it so I pretended I liked it at first.  Here is the paint swatch of color #2:

So back to the paint store I went.  I'm pretty much bff's with the paint store guy, and he even gave me a discount the third time because he felt bad that I hated the first two:)  But hey, third time is a charm!  I now LOVE the color that is in there:

I think the color looks awesome with the white windows and hardwood floors (don't mind the mess, we're not done painting the trim).  Plus we went to Ikea yesterday and I got a TON of fun stuff to decorate with, so I can't wait to put it all together!  I'll be posting more pictures once I finish the office.

Also, I put together a slideshow of Lindsay & Bill's wedding for you all to enjoy - check it out HERE!

Just stumbled upon your post after googling “office paint color”. I LOVE the grayish blue you ended up with. Any chance you could share the name/brand of the color with me?

Tina, I love the color of your office! You definitely got it right the third time! You’ll have to let me know when I can come down and see your house. I’d like to see it know that you’re moved in! I love the pictures of Lindsay’s wedding too; you did a great job! Judging from Lindsay’s comment, I think she feels the same way!

I feel your pain with the wall color selection! Thankfully I only had to repaint my guest room once! Who doesn’t love a nice tan? (yawn, I know). I can’t wait to see your office! Once I got settled in my new office, I swear business went up! Feels good to have a home for all those supplies and files…best wishes!

Tina,
Hey the new space looks AMAZING!!! I LOVE that color!! And girl, I have soooo been there on trying to pick colors. I tried a few shades of green before I hit on the color I picked for my office (http://gailwernerphotography.com/?p=69)

You will be AMAZED at how much more productive you feel when you’re in the proper kind of space!

Woo – go girl!

Lindsay & Bill: Wedding

This past weekend Jeremy and I made another trip out to Pittsburgh for Lindsay & Bill's wedding.  They held their reception at Heinz History Center, which is an AWESOME reception location.  I was so excited to do this wedding because I had an awesome time with Lindsay & Bill during their engagement session.  I think Lindsay's sister and Maid of Honor described Lindsay perfectly during her speech - Lindsay just has a way of making everybody feel comfortable and welcome.  After hanging out with her for an hour or so during their engagement session, I felt like I had been friends with her for years.  She is just a truly genuine person, and is a great person to be around.....and Bill compliments her so well:)

Now on to the pictures - getting ready at her parent's house:

Lindsay is also a beautiful piano player....so she sat down and played us a wedding song:)

I just had to include this quick picture of Lindsay's niece - she looked like a little porcelain doll, and was such a content baby - she just sat like this, happy as could be, in someone's arms all night long.  I loved her!

Bill got a little choked up when he saw Lindsay standing at the end of the aisle:)

I had to hold back the tears (ok I'll be honest, I couldn't hold the tears back) during Jess's speech.....you can definitely tell that Lindsay & Jess have a special bond, and it just reminded me of my relationship with my sister:)  It was a great speech:

I loved the movement in this picture during Lindsay's dance with her dad, and it really showcases her amazing veil, which was made by her mom:

I love the neon light on the outside of the Heinz History Center

Thanks for having me guys!  Hope you're having an awesome time on your honeymoon:)
