Summer Loving

I am not good with plants.  I’ve pretty much killed every single plant I’ve ever owned – how are you supposed to know how often to water them?  I can never keep track:)  Since J and I just bought our house in February when everything was dead and ugly, it’s been fun to see what has been popping up around our house over the past few months.  And everyone says you shouldn’t do much outside work during the 1st year you’re in a house so you can see everything that comes up throughout the year, right?  Well I’m sticking with that thought process:)  We have little hooks on our front porch for hanging flower baskets….and they looked awesome at first, but now they started looking a little shriveled and sad.  I decided to try to give them some summer loving and nurse them back to life, and it’s actually been working!  I’m shocked I’m actually bringing some plants back to life and not killing them…..Mary and Dawn would be so proud:)  Here are some of the things we’re seeing around our yard:

I love everything in our tiny yard – well mostly everything.

Because then there is this:

Lets zoom in a little closer, shall we?

Lucky us, the sellers left little things like this all over our yard when they moved out.  J threw everything out, but I noticed he had forgotten to throw the flying cow birdhouse out (yes those are wings on top of the cow).  So I mentioned in passing that he has to remember to throw it out for the next garbage day, and he informed me that he kinda likes it and it’s going to stay in our yard.  Keep in mind this is in our front yard, hanging in a tree that EVERYONE sees as they’re walking/driving past.  He’s even gotten comments from the neighbors saying “oh I see you’re keeping the cow in the tree”.  I can’t decide whether to sneakily (yes, that’s a word in my world) throw it out without him knowing, or leave it there so next time something doesn’t go my way I can say “well I was ok with you keeping the flying cow birdhouse!” – ahh dilemmas:)  Until I decide, the cow stays:)

On another note, I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming 4th of July weekend!  I’m excited for my upcoming wedding on the 4th, so check back next week for a post on that!
