A White Christmas

So....we had a minor dusting of snow this weekend.  And by minor dusting, I mean record-breaking accumulation.  I think 23.2 inches was the final count for Philly this weekend.  This made living in a warmer climate like I talked about in my last post more and more appealing.  Nine times out of ten I wouldn't care about being snowed in with Jay, sitting in front of a fire all weekend, but I was supposed to head to Atlantic City for one of my college roommate's bachelorette party this weekend - so I'm sad we had to cancel our plans!  Well, I guess it will be kind of cool that we'll have a white Christmas this year!  Here is the view from one of my front windows.....who else loves my candy cane-esque front porch polls??

If you look on the left side of this picture, you can see that the snow is all the way up to the tippy top of our white fence (a little hard to see with the snow):

But here you can see how tall that fence is!  Craziness.

I took this picture of my car because I thought this looked like a ton of snow.  Little did I know, the next morning the snow would be all the way up to the window of my driver's side door.  That was fun trying to clear out.

I also had to take a walk in the snow and get some wintery pictures - the walk didn't last long.  Snow blowing in my face and soaking my camera made it a quick trip:)

Hope everyone stayed safe in the storm - on the bright side, we'll have a white Christmas!

I love the snowy pictures! Your porch looks great. If we have bad weather on Christmas and I can’t make it down to your place, I’ll be so upset! I want to see all of your Christmas decorations, especially the mantle! See you Friday (hopefully!)

Couldn’t get Katie to make a snow angel? hehe

Oh my gosh! You guys did have a tons of snow! Love the candy cane posts…can’t wait to see the rest of the house on Thursday!

Gail - December 21, 2009 - 9:53 am

Ahhhhh….first of all, I love your house. It’s freakin’ adorable! Second, I can totally picture you trying to take shots in the snow. Sounds like me over the weekend, only, you know, we had like, an INCH instead of 25! Hang in there ’til you get dug out!

The picture of the wreath on the gate with the freshly fallen snow would make a nice Christmas card.

Warmer Visions

I don't know about the rest of the country, but in Philly this past week, man it got COLD.  I mean freezing-to-the-bone cold.  I used to absolutely love winter.....but I think the only reason I loved it was the possibility of a snow day from school.  Now, I would be perfectly OK with living in a climate where there was no such thing as winter.  And shoveling.  And scraping ice off of my car.

I've started researching honeymoon locations, and I'm thinking (and praying and crossing my fingers) that Kauai, Hawaii will be our destination:)  I've never been to Hawaii, and I've always wanted to go....it seems like the ultimate paradise to me.  Then I started thinking - can you imagine how amazing it would be to live in a place like Kauai?  I mean seriously....could you imagine if you lived here?

Ahhhh - until October, Kauai, until October:)

Christmas Love

The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year - the Christmas music, the decorations, and the feeling in the air.  It's also the time of year that all of my old roommates from PSU and I get together for a little PSU reunion.  We've done this every year since we graduated, and I hope it never stops, even when we're all grown up and married with kids:)  This year I hosted the get together - it's so nice to have a house to invite everyone over to!

What can I say?  I love these girls!

Philadelphia Christmas Picture

I'm not sure why, but for some reason it was SO much more fun decorating for Christmas this year, now that we have a house of our very own.  Christmas decorations just make me happy, so I thought I'd share my Christmas happiness with you:)

I also love that I now have a mantel to decorate:)

Jess - December 11, 2009 - 9:12 pm

LOVE your decorations! Seeing all of that makes me realize how VERY behind I am! Haha!

Dawn - December 10, 2009 - 12:40 pm

Your decorations are beautiful! I can’t believe you have all of that wrapped already!

Joan - December 9, 2009 - 6:05 pm

I have to agree with Mary; I HATE wrapping presents! I wait until the last minute to do it, then it’s a major production. The picture of you and your friends is great; what a wonderful tradition! I can’t wait to see your decorated house on Christmas; your decorations look so festive! I like the peace decoration on the mantle.

Jaime - December 9, 2009 - 11:44 am

Yay for PSU reunions and yay for Christmas :)

Mary - December 9, 2009 - 10:22 am

I loathe wrapping presents….will you come wrap all of mine? You would think that I would love it, but for some reason, I just can’t convince myself. Maybe Lee will make it more entertaining this year? Love my PSU girls :)

Kylene - December 8, 2009 - 9:40 pm

I am LOVING the black and white picture….I am thinking it is frame worthy :) loved our holiday celebration!

Katie - December 8, 2009 - 9:21 pm
