Happy Valley Weekend

It's no secret I love Penn State - pretty much love everything about it. But my favorite thing of all? Penn State football.  I'm telling you, there is NOTHING like a PSU tailgate (or should I say tailgreat).  I usually head up to at least one game every season, but last year with the craziness of my wedding season I wasn't able to make it up for any games.  So we were more than due for a tailgating weekend when Jay and I headed up to Happy Valley this weekend.  I left the camera at home (sometimes my camera and I just need some time apart:), so I documented this weekend with the Shake-it Photo app on my iPhone....LOVE that app!  So here is what my weekend looked like through my iPhone:

Decorating the car for the drive up to PSU, and milkshakes at the Corner Room.  The best thing about these milkshakes? They give you the whole silver container full of milkshake, so it actually works out to about 2.5 milkshakes instead of 1.  Which is why I can only eat there once every few years.

My stepmom, Beth, makes the BEST breakfast sandwiches in the world. I could eat those things every single morning.  Also picked up a pair of nittany lion paws/gloves downtown. Aren't they the coolest?? Totally impractical (can't pick anything up with them on), but totally awesome.

Me and the hubs, view of RV land from the top of my dad's RV, and our bean bag board. WHICH, by the way, Beth and I dominated at - played 4 games against my dad and Jay, and won 4 games. The paws were key.

A little more bean bag action, and an awesome pumpkin carving - whoever's tailgate that was really went all out.

And last but not least, game time!  I should mention that Penn State dominated Michigan, which I always love to see:)

That just about wraps up my weekend!  I have a ton of shoots to blog this week, and I know I STILL need to blog about my honeymoon!  Soon, I promise:)

I love the Penn State shots! That is the coolest pumpkin carving! I miss going up for games; this is the second year in a row that I haven’t gone up at all. Hopefully, next year I’ll make it!

Sooo fun! I love the gloves. And I TOTALLY miss Beth’s cooking…and the candy bucket of course :)

The Gerber Family

Meet the Gerber family!  This weekend I headed down to Beth's parent's farm for their family shoot - it is the PERFECT time of year for outdoor fall shoots!  The leaves are just right, and it's still really warm out so we didn't have to bundle up at all:)  After I got home from this shoot I told Jay all about these kids, Lee and Olivia - they were the most WELL behaved kids I've ever met, and they were as sweet as can be.....I told Beth I might have to hit her up for parenting tips one day, because I couldn't get over how cooperative and nice the kids were!

The shoot went great - my lenses on the other hand.....well that didn't pan out so well.  I was putting all of my equipment away the next morning and had a minor panic attack when I realized I was missing a lens.....I sent a frantic Facebook message to Beth (the mom), and she was SO sweet, saying she'd head over to the farm and look in the fields to see if she could find it.  She messaged me about 15 minutes later saying her dad actually found my lens in one of the farm fields!  I was shocked - that lens is my smallest one, and we covered a lot of ground that day.  It must have somehow fallen out of my Shootsac along the way.  As soon as she got it in her hands she overnighted it to me - do I not have the BEST clients or what?? I still feel so horrible about that Beth....you're the best!

Enough of my rambling, on to the pictures:

Olivia and her dad, this one melts my heart:

Picture perfect family:)

I am in LOVE with Olivia's hair....I always wanted hair like hers!

Olivia and her grandpa....doesn't he have the greatest smile??

The sun came out for some perfect lighting:

Sibling love - I was shocked I didn't have to do more to get this pose....I just told Lee to hug his sister, and this cuteness emerged:

Definitely my favorite from the session:)

The whole family on the farmhouse porch:)

I love being able to get a few shots of the mom & dad's alone - Beth told me they don't have any pictures of just the two of them since their wedding/honeymoon 9 years ago!  We fixed that problem:)

Beth, you're gorgeous:)

Thanks for hanging out with me for the day guys!

5 States in 5 Days

Last week I was in 5 different states in 5 days.....I'm SO ready to just sleep in my own bed all this week! I was in #1 - Hawaii - for the very end of our honeymoon.  #2 - Arizona, for a layover on our way home (I guess this one doesn't really count).  #3 - back home to Pennsylvania for 2 days to try to unpack and catch up.  #4 - Michigan for a layover on my way to Iowa.  And #5 - Iowa for Allison and Grant's wedding.  Not only does it feel good to be in my own bed again, but I'm ready to NOT be in an airport for the next few months.  All of my flights went really smoothly with no delays, but there is just something about flying that wears me out.

On to Allison and Grant's wedding - I went out to Iowa to shoot this wedding with Gail, who is one of my amazing friends I met almost two years ago at the MJ 2 Day workshop in AZ:)  I just love Gail - she's such an awesome person and we always have a blast hanging out (like on our fun NYC travels in April!).....our trip to Iowa was super short, but it was so great to catch up with her in person again.  Not to mention we got to shoot our first wedding together!  We both have agreed we need to live in the same town so we can shoot EVERY wedding together - we're a power team!  It was such a cool opportunity to shoot this wedding with Gail - and none of it would have happened if it weren't for Melissa's workshop in AZ.  Why?  Because the lovely bride Allison was at the workshop too!  So the three of us met about 2 years ago, and have kept in touch/followed each other's blogs ever since.  When Gail emailed me saying "Allison is engaged, wants me to shoot her wedding and wants me to bring you out with me" - I got jazz hands and clapped in my office:)  I've been excited for this wedding for MONTHS now, and it didn't disappoint - it's safe to say Allison is the most crafty person I ever met, and the details that she put together for this wedding was nothing short of amazing.  I can't wait to share images from her wedding!  For now, I'll leave you with pictures of the lovely Gail, aka the-girl-i-wish-lived-in-philly-so-we-could-shoot-every-wedding-together:

Love ya Gail!  Can't wait for WPPI in February:)

It's me, Betsy - October 31, 2010 - 10:19 pm

And then you were in NJ… on a couch!

Can’t wait to see all the upcoming posts :)

Gail - October 25, 2010 - 9:40 am

BAHAHAHA…I make the most ridiculous faces don’t I? Nick saw this one on my monitor and was like “Nice Gail..that’s uh…very flattering of you…” What can I say…I need a new ‘You caught me’ face apparently ;)

I just adore you to pieces. SUCH a blast getting to spend a whirlwind 48 hours with you! Can’t wait to get to work on this wedding. I’ve already decided it’s going to have to be blogged in two posts. There is just WAY too much goodness happening for it to stick with one!

‘Til February….G
