People’s Light & Theater Wedding Photographer: Dan & Sara

There were so many things about Sara & Dan's wedding that made me smile - their gorgeous venue with tons of little spots for photos, their super friendly family who made us feel so incredibly welcome, and the details - OH the details!  I'm a sucker for cute details, and Sara did not disappoint - everywhere we looked there were amazing details, she made sure every aspect of the day looked fabulous and made the guests comfortable. Dan & Sara met back in college, when he was an RA and helped her move in freshman year.  A little while later they started dating, and have been together ever since:) I just love these two!

There were so many favorites from their wedding, it was hard to narrow it down for this blog post, so check out tons more photos at People's Light Theater in their SLIDESHOW!  And a special thanks to Amanda for shooting this wedding with me - I loved shooting with her and a few below are her images:)

Sara's old bedroom had colors that perfectly complimented her wedding colors - how perfect is that?

Something blue:)

I love that Sara's brother made this ring holder for them:)

It was clear that Sara and her dad have a very special bond - this image makes me teary every time:)

Gorgeous:)

Sara's bouquet was wrapped in lace from her mom's wedding dress:

These were the most on-time groomsmen I've ever worked with:)

Ohhhh how I love first looks!  The reactions are priceless:)

A huge canvas hung above their bed of this photo? Yes please!

Both of these images are Amanda's - LOVE them:)

And on to the details - first, my favorite - their signature drink!  It was Harmon's Hard Lemonade....perfect for a summer day!

They even had this customized water station waiting in the shade for guests before the ceremony:

Thanks guys, your wedding was amazing and I was so glad to be a part of it!  Hope you're enjoying your newlywed bliss:)

Make sure to check out more images from their wedding in the SLIDESHOW:)

I can't wait to spend more time around Sara. I loved her "first look" smile and hope you will bring the recipe for "Harmon Hard Lemonade" out west some time soon.

Congratulations

June Self Portrait: Summer Love

June means one thing to me: the official start of summer. Those dreaded winter months are finally behind us, and it's the time of year for windows open, no jackets, and long days.  It feels amazing to be able to spend time outside, after being cooped up indoors for so many winter months. One of my favorite things to do on summer nights is this:

Sitting on our porch that's right off our master bedroom, glass of wine in hand, a white furball at my feet, Jay by my side, talking about life. We always have some of our best conversations on nights like these, talking about our future, wondering what's to come down the road. Nights like these fill my heart with happiness....there's something so peaceful about sitting outside at night, looking at the stars, chatting the night away.

That is until Holly starts barking wildly at a moth that's flying around. Then it's time to head back inside:)

Hope everyone else is enjoying their summers!

[...] June: Summer Love [...]

Wedding Season is in Full Swing….

Well folks, wedding season is in full swing. That means weddings on the weekends, and engagement shoots during the week (with a few family sessions sprinkled in when I have time).  My schedule is crazy busy right now, and I don't think I've ever been more happy to be crazy busy in my life.  It still shocks me that THIS is my job.  That what I do every day, which I enjoy and love to do, is my job.  I often tell Jay that it kinda feels like I've been on a reeeeally long vacation, and I'm going to have to go back to work soon.

People often ask me if I hate having to work on the weekends.  You know what? I don't hate it.  Would I rather be spending time with my husband? Sure.  But I really don't mind working on Saturdays....that's because the week days are my own.  I love being my own boss, having complete freedom during the week.  I love that it's just me, stay at home moms, and senior citizens doing our errands on random Tuesdays at 10am.  I love being able to meet up with friends for lunch at the drop of a hat.  Or taking Holly for a walk at 2pm because I just have to take a break from my computer.  So no, I don't hate working on the weekends.  Because in a weird way, working Saturdays feels like freedom to me.

And of course I wouldn't be able to shoot all of these fabulous weddings without my right hand (wo)man, Jaime:

We hopped in the photo booth at Brett & Liz's wedding, I think the top photo is my favorite:)  Makes me giggle every time I look at it!

Except for the hubbie not being home, every day is Saturday! And I’m with you — even after all the time that I have been home, I sometimes still forget I don’t have to go to “work” the next day.

Jaime - June 28, 2011 - 1:32 pm

Every time I look at these pictures I giggle! So much fun, I’m glad I get to be your right hand (wo)man on Saturdays :)

Kylene - June 28, 2011 - 1:01 pm

What a great team!!

Cait - June 28, 2011 - 9:21 am

How cute are these! I love photographers in photo booths!! Adorable!

Jess - June 28, 2011 - 7:44 am

Ha ha I love that top photo too! And I feel the same way about working on weekends. I don’t mind it at all :)
