April can be summed up in one word: travel. I was only home for half of the month, the rest of the month was spent on the road. So I basically felt like I was living out of a suitcase for a month straight:)
I got home late last night from my last trip of the month, an amazing, relaxing weekend in Indiana visiting my good friend Gail. I was also in the Outer Banks shooting Trisha & Aaron's wedding (my first destination wedding!), then also spent a lot of time in Raleigh visiting my sister and baby niece:)
As much as I love traveling, it felt great to unpack my suitcase this morning, put it back in storage, and know I won't need it again until June. There's no place like home!
Wedding season has officially kicked off for 2012! What a way to start off my year - shooting my first destination wedding in the Outer Banks - it was so fun to shoot in a new part of the country:) Trisha & Aaron held their wedding at The Sanderling Resort & Spa - an absolutely gorgeous venue, right on the beaches of Duck.
We were all a little nervous the days leading up to the wedding - it had been cold and gloomy for the days leading up to their wedding, but their wedding day was nothing short of perfect:) The clouds parted, there were blue skies and they had an absolutely perfect day for a beach wedding - I wish I could shoot every wedding on the beach!
Here are some of my favorites from their wedding day, and check out their SLIDESHOW for even more photos from their day!
The first time I was ever able to use a starfish for the ring shot - love it!
Such a sweet moment with Trisha and her mom before the First Look:
Trisha & Aaron opted to have a First Look for their wedding day - it's always my favorite part of the day!
See what I mean? Perfect blue skies:
I officially love shooting at the beach:)
One of my favorite shots of the day - I see a large canvas of this hanging in your house Trisha:)
Have you ever seen a more excited bride walk down the aisle? Love it:)
Such a fun way to display the name cards:
I am in LOVE with this cake - how cute is this??
Loved the decor of the reception venue - the space looked so amazing with these drapings and lanterns:)
They even had a perfect sunset to cap off the wedding day:)
Trisha & Aaron, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day! I hope you're enjoying your time as newlyweds:)
North Carolina is one of the prettiest states I've ever been to. Now, I've probably only been in approximately 10 states (ok, maybe a few more) in my life, so that might not be saying much, but I just love it down there. Most of the areas are so quaint, and I always find myself thinking, "I'd LOVE to shoot down here". I was THRILLED to do a session for Sarah and Tyler while I was visiting my sister last week - we wandered around the Tobacco District in Durham, and I think I could have shot there all day - how cool is this area?
These two made my job easy:)
One of my favorites:)
How awesome is this place? I was in love:)
My fabulous second shooter's (aka my sister) view:
When I saw this industrial area covered in brick, with the lights strung around, I just about died and went to heaven. A photographer's dream:)
Another one of my sister's shots:
Hello gorgeous couple - they could work the camera like no other:)
This series was another one of my favorites:)
Love love love:)
Thanks guys! I had so much fun exploring Durham with you!
