2011 Behind the Scenes

It always cracks me up to see "behind the scenes" shots of myself in action, I always wonder what I look like while shooting (I'll clue you in, it ain't that pretty after a full day of sweating in the heat of summer). Cait grabbed a bunch of shots of me shooting at some of the weddings this year, I thought it would be fun for you guys to see what I look like while I'm shooting too:)

I can't tell you how many times I've taken a picture near a mirror and realized, "crap! I'm in the picture"....and don't ask me why I have a flash on my camera outside in full sun. Just trying to work out my arms, maybe?

Yikes, who knew I look so intense while giving posing instruction....I swear I don't bite.

I'm not gonna lie, I love to get my dance on at receptions. I mean come on, check out my moves.

Cait has some fierce moves also. Yes, the bride's dad is thinking "she's an amazing dancer", and definitely NOT thinking "what the....?"

Love that my job sometimes takes me to a golf course, while the next weekend I'm on the water....

Whatever it takes to get the shot. Sometimes that means laying in alleys next to trash cans. Other times it means kicking the driver of a horse & carriage off so I can steal his spot. Then there are other times I'm doing something SO intricate (aka eating a quick snack) that I manage to get gum stuck in my bracelet, and proceed to get it all over my face and hands. I keep it classy folks.

Loved all of my shoots on railroads this year. That's Jess & Matt below.....they happen to live about 2 miles from Jay and I, so we've gone out a bunch of times....it's the best when clients become friends:)

Ahhh the glamorous life of a wedding photographer. Aka shoving food and water down your throat in a parking lot in the 1 minute you have to spare between locations.

I promise there was a reason I was shooting in front of a speed limit sign:)

Photobooth fun:)

Cait just loooooves when I test my reception lighting on her:) I think I have a variation of this shot at every.single.wedding.

Happy 2012!!

As much as I look like a dork in these photos, I just LOVE this post! It just affirms how much fun we are as a team!! I love it when you lay by trashcans or in the street. You’re fabulous!! Awesome 2011 – keep it up!

Cheers to 2012

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great holiday:) Jay and I spent New Year's in NYC, and it was a blast - we went to a restaurant where one of our friends bartends all night. I only had my iPhone on me, so ignore the quality of these shots below:) The restaurant was covered in balloons with streamers hanging down to the tables.....I've always wanted to go to a restaurant that had that! It felt so festive:)

Jay and I right before the ball dropped:)

Cheers to 2012!

Hope everyone had a great New Year! Now it's back to normal life....I miss the holidays already!

December Self Portrait: A Trifecta of Loves

Hey guys, guess what? Did you know I love Christmas? That may or may not have been the topic of discussion on 95% of my blog posts this month:) I guess that's old news at this point. Another thing I love? Cities. I love visiting cities, shooting in cities, and living in cities (I definitely miss living in center city Philly). There is no city more impressive than NYC, I'm so lucky that I live a short bus ride away from Manhattan. I sometimes wish I would have moved there just to say I did it at one point in my life, but there are definite pluses to owning a home outside of a city - not having to pay an arm and a leg for parking (it's free! ha), having a grocery store a short drive down the road, not having nasty city smells on every corner. Thank goodness Jay and I have a bunch of friends that live in NYC, so we have a few places to stay whenever we want to get our fill of the city. We're heading up there for New Year's Eve (NOT Times Square), and I.CAN'T. WAIT. Any excuse, and I'm there:) Add a delicious amount of sugar to my two loves just mentioned? It's a perfect trifecta:)

Christmas.

NYC.

Cupcakes.

That just about sums up the highlight of my month, does a day get much better than that? I submit that it does not:)

That's me in front of the Sprinkles shop in NYC, if you're ever there, you DEFINITELY need to stop in:) Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday!!

Such a fun photo! And, I’m just so proud of you for finishing a whole year of self-portraits. My project ran out of steam sometime around August!

I feel the urge to eat a cupcake!
